Black & Decker TO1420B 4-Slice Toaster Oven, Black

ZERO STARS!
Awful, awful product!! Purchased in October, 2010. From the date of purchase, this toaster never worked quite right. I should have returned it immediately!

To get lightly toasted bread, I have to turn the timer dial clockwise then turn it counterclockwise to less than 1/4" of the off position. It's almost impossible to do this consistently, especially since the dial doesn't even have a line that points to the light/dark picture of the toast. It toasts unevenly every time. The top of the bread will be toasted while the bottom is not. If you want the whole slice of bread toasted (top and bottom), one side will be burned. Get used to only one side being toasted.

Then, 7 months after purchase, the unit completely and dangerously malfunctioned. While attempting to bake an item, the unit 'snapped, crackled, and popped' and the glass door shattered into the unit itself and onto the countertop. This was not after 30 minutes of bake time - no, this happened right after...

toaster oven review insanity
you can go crazy reading toaster oven reviews. Even Brevilles have their critics. I ended up just going to a big box store and buying a B&D TO1412B, which looks about the same as the TO1420B. Inexpensive, simple to use, does ok. Yeah the toast might come out a little uneven sometimes but its ok -- just as long as i don't have to read any more reviews.

EXPLOSIVE!!! AVOID!
Do NOT get this product. Similar to other reviews, the glass door EXPLODED as we were trying to make toast. I knew it was a cruddy toaster oven to begin with, but the fact it exploded, sending chards of glass all over the kitchen is NOT okay. We've only had this toaster oven for about 2 weeks, used less than 10 times. Thank god no one in my family was standing near to the toaster when this happened. Someone could have been seriously injured or lost an eye.

AVOID!!

Black & Decker TCM450B 8-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker, Black

Good coffee maker POOR QUALITY
Makes good coffee. I like the thermal carafe because it keeps coffee hot longer and can you take it to table. I didn't give it 5 stars because plastic is a little poorly made. But it works and the price was good.
UPDATE:
Since I wrote above I decided to return it. The plastic is very poor quality and is warping. Edges don't line up well. Not worth keeping.

I would change the stars to only 2.

Coffee Maker
We've looked for a long time to find a glass thermos type carafe/coffee maker and this is the only one we found. We think all the stainless steel carafe types impart a metallic taste.

We're sightly disappointed in how long it keeps the coffee hot even when tempered. Otherwise everything else about the coffee maker is fine.

Also, we were supposed to get free super saver shipping with this item but somehow being on the same order as some other items caused that to fall through and we wound up paying a hefty shipping fee for this item. We'll be careful to place separate orders in the future.

Black & Decker TCM450B 8-Cup Coffee Maker

Black& Decker 12-Cup Coffeemaker

I HATE this coffee maker!
I LOVED the older model of this coffee maker..but THIS model is TERRIBLE! The coffee spills all over EVERY SINGLE TIME you poor a cup..it's a terrible design flaw in the spout i guess..it's so aggravating! You have to wipe up 1/4 cup of spilled coffee every time you pour a cup. the coffee also does not get as hot as the old model. It's lukewarm at best. I will be buying a different brand now...I can't deal with this poor excuse for a coffee maker any longer. DO NOT BUY!!

Black & Decker RC400 16-Cup Rice Cooker

Sticky rice, but stuck to the bottom of the pot!
I grew up in Japan, so I am pretty picky when it comes to how I like my rice. This was given me as a gift, and although I wouldn't have chosen an American brand of rice cooker, I was surprised at how well the rice turned out. I was using Japanese rice. The cooker gets the rice pretty perfect in less than 35 minutes for 6 cups, which is fairly fast. Unfortunately, the first time I used it, I left it on the "warm" setting for over an hour. This was never a problem with my older Japanese rice cookers, which do not have a glass lid, but whose tops are normally hinged, preventing you from seeing the contents until they have finished cooking.
After everyone had come and gone and finished eating, I could see the bottom of the pot, and noticed the yellow color of the rice that was hardened there. I soaked the pot, (which is not dishwasher-safe, by the way, as neither the lid nor utensils that accompany this set are) and decided to unplug the rice cooker immediately the...

Cooks rice, but you'll need a scrubber.
The rice cooker seems to overheat everytime and sends froth boiling over. This can be avoided by opening the top from time to time. The rice tends to stick to the metal after you are done. With a close eye the rice will turn out fine. However, this product fails the test for convenience. I'd rather use the stovetop with some good cookware and a timer than use this. I suggest looking for a product with better non-stick material and one that doesn't overheat.

Great economical rice cooker!
I got this rice cooker because I was tired of ruined rice on the stove, and I was very pleased with the results. Perfectly cooked rice that is not mushy, and it is very easy to use.

Black & Decker B2250 All-In-One Automatic Breadmaker for 1-1/2 to 2-Pound Loaves

Good value at $50
If you've read many breadmaker reviews like I have you'll notice many very negative reviews and many very positive reviews for the same machines. You'll also notice a tendancy for newbs to have great success and experienced users to fail dramatically. I don't understand why; though I suspect a conspiracy ;)

I am a newb bread maker, and I didn't read the other reviews on this product when I bought it on sale at ... a retail outlet for under $50. The price was great and it was the only one in the store. I knew I could return it if I wasn't happy. I wanted one as I want a better diet. I can't find any good tasting breads in stores that are also good for my blood sugars (diabetic eh). There may not be one anywhere as I now find out that all recipes have some white flour or equivalant to make them fluff up and stick together, but that's another tale.

This machine has made two loaves for me without a flaw. I made the plain white sandwich bread on medium nad a Robin...

Bring back the old!
We purchased the B2005 model and loved it. It worked great for a few years until recently when a small metal part broke off and the unit can no longer turn the paddle. Couldn't buy a replacement part.
Not a big deal, we would buy another one.

B2250 All in one pro. Black & Decker 2-lb. Programmable Bread Maker

Brought it home, washed the pan, etc. Decided to try the cracked wheat sandwich bread recipe that was printed in the book. (since I wasn't sure if I could use my 'old' recipes in the new unit).

Good thing that I was home. It started up fine...everything seemed to be working...until I smelled smoke/burning. Yup, it was the unit...smoke pouring out everywhere. Needless to say, I am not happy with this unit. Forget replacing it with another B2250, I don't want it.

I've now read some reviews that state that the breadmakers are no longer manufactured by Black & Decker. Perhaps this is the problem? Name is still the same but the units...

Burns the bread and impossible to clean
I agree with Trixie - this is a horrible bread maker.

I cannot find any settings that do not result in burned bread and its lid is permanently attached to the bread maker so if you get bread stuck (and burned) on the inside of the lid then it is impossible to clean properly.

This is the B2250 machine, but its big brother, the B2300 Horizontal bread maker, has the same problems. I have tried both and they now both reside in my basement.
