We replaced a small trash compactor with this item (under counter), but we have approximately 1-1/2" on top and 3/4" on each side for air circulation. It works great. Temps vary a degree or two depending on heat/humidity, but always settle back to settings in a short time period. It is not noisy, but it is a little louder than our refrigerator, nothing that wouldn't stop us from recommending. Shipping, packaging, all good. Shipped and received within a week. All in all, it is a good unit thus far, no complaints. I would recommend this unit for the first time wine cooler folks.
