Great Sharpener
This sharpener is identical to the Hughes Products sharpener which is out of production. I purchased these to give to my deer hunting friends who were always calling on me to sharpen their knives. When in the field it is an indespensable tool. I have several so I always have one for easy access, including in my kitchen.
Works great - Intruder QuikSharp System
In the first days of acquiring this product, I have sharpened two knives. Although the steel in the knives was of a lower quality, the sharpener did a great job on the cutting edge and even on the tips. I expect this product to live a long time: the sharpening blades and rods can be rotated or reversed with a use of a Phillips screw-driver and new components may be ordered directly from the manufacturer while keeping the original handle.
The handle is sturdy, and if set on the edge of a table, may even be inclined towards the edge (within reason, of course). Although this places the sharpener in a less stable position (solved by maintaining a rigid grip on the handle), this position will give greater control closer to the tip of the blade without the fear of striking the table.
The V-shaped configuration in the blades and rods works great, the tungsten carbide blades taking bigger chunks off the blade, while the ceramic rods doing wonders in making the blade...
