Aero-Press Post-Enhancement
I had a chance over the thanksgiving weekend to sample a couple different roasts at a coffee shop in Ridgefield, CT called the Tusk and Cup; great people, by the way. They had one of these in use, and I was curious. I already own an Aero-press and absolutely love it, and, quantitation/consistency aside, the brewing principle here is quite similar. Both cups I tried (Tanzanian Peaberry and Ethiopian Medium as I recall) were incredibly flavorful; I'm talking depth, warmth independent of heat, bitterness negated sans sweetener, in other words the full package of everything that is theoretically prized in fine coffee. Needless to say, this machine is amazing.
Interesting background tale I was told: Apparently a little independent company developed this machine's predecessor, and was bought out and liquidated by Starbucks; Bunn obtained the original patent, altered it just enough, and released this machine as their own. I'm assuming Starbucks wanted to avoid in-home...
