I just received this and its a heavy duty quality item and works great.. My old steels were worn down and I wanted a 12" anyway since I've acquired longer knives and this is perfect.. I didn't realize how much my old ones were worn until I made a few passes with this and I tell you "Wow what a difference".. I still can't get over how inexpensive it was and how well its built so I highly recommend it..
Fischer Bargoin is a Bargain
I bought the round version. It's so affordable I might get the oval version too just to see which I like better. I never had one of these before, now I wish I'd bought one years ago. It sharpens much better than other knife sharpening tools I've used. I now have a habit of just taking a few seconds and making some passes with any knife every time before I use it, and they cut like a $150+ super sharp professional chef knife - makes a cheap bargain store knife cut a tomato like a brand new razor! If you've never used one, it comes with simple instructions on how to use it properly, and YouTube has some videos on how to use these.
Plus, it's actually kinda fun to use. Sometimes kinda makes me feel like a villain in an old-fashioned melodrama - Mwaahaha...
